The Patient's Rights Office protects the patient, consumer and human rights of all recipients of psychiatric services. Consultation and training are available to providers of psychiatric services. Patient's rights advocates investigate complaints concerning mental health services, monitor mental health facilities, provide training and education regarding mental health law, and ensure that recipients of mental health services are notified of their rights.

Confidentiality

All information gathered in the course of evaluation and treatment by this Department is confidential. There are, however, certain exceptions to confidentiality that exist in law. For more information, contact the Patient's Rights office directly.

Verbal Complaints or Written Grievances

Verbal complaints should be made directly with your provider. For concerns other than "Notice of Action," which denies, reduces or terminates services, a written grievance should be sent to the Access Unit.
